DecalTrans Waterslide Transfer Paper

DecalTrans is a new and special product in the TexoTrans silkscreen transfer range, especially designed for water slide decals.

What is a waterslide decal?

An illustration together with a layer of varnish is printed onto DecalTrans paper which is covered with a layer of gum. After briefly immersing this ‘decal’ in water the gum layer is softened and the image can be slid onto almost any smooth and dry surface. Water slide decals are especially suitable for affixing to curved or undulating surfaces. This type of decal is used, among others, on the following: Wooden products (in Holland especially on clogs), Scale models, Musical instruments, Promotional gifts, Candles. The big advantage of waterslide decal is that while it remains damp, it can be slid around to position it exactly. This can’t be done with a dry-transfer decal. Applying large decals presents no problems.

Our DecalTrans paper is developed to make waterslide silkscreen transfers to be applied on a variety of substrates. DecalTrans is a specially gummed high-resistant paper, which offers an excellent dimensional stability and firing performance.
On the picture you see the typical Dutch clog with an applied decal, the illustration on the clog was printed on our DecalTrans paper by the Dutch silkscreen printer Van der Geest in Utrecht.

Dry-transfer decals with HCS100/2C-HP Polyester

HCS100/2C-HP is polyester we recommend for making dry-transfer decals.

What is a dry-transfer decal?

A dry-transfer decal is a silkscreen printed logo or illustration which can be easily applied to many industrial/manufactured products. The illustration is printed on transparent HCS100/2C-HP Polyester sheet in the following order:

- (Varnish)
- A mirror image of the text and/or illustration
- An adhesive layer
The adhesive is covered with a sheet of silicone paper to prevent accidental attachment. After removing the silicone backing paper and placing the image in the desired position, rubbing the top of the polyester (HCS/2) carrier sheet causes the image to adhere to the surface you are applying it to.

Always make sure you test our product with your ink system and ask your ink supplier about possible risk and compatibility for this specific application and for this release film.

The dry-transfer decal is used on a large number of manufactured products.
The varnish layer gives the decal an excellent chemical and fade-resistance and is suitable for outdoor use.
Due to the thinness of the decal it gives less problems when being applied to various surfaces which are normally impossible to be printed.
